Ways to stand out

The ways we can stand out not just as tourist but specifically Americans are enormous. Since America is more isolated to world culture compared to European countries, we are looked at as being ignorant for not knowing or learning the culture of other countries. The way we dress could make us stick out. For example, Americans wear tennis shoes everywhere, while European citizens usually would only where them while going to the gym. We can further stand out as being American by wearing political or shirts with American flags while traveling. If we stand out too much, we can be spotted from far away by pickpoketers. We might be less of victims to pickpoketers if we can blend in more with the locals which willpositively benefit the group.

Not to sound like a typical ignorant American but my knowledge of European history is abysmal compared to US history. The only thing I was ever taught in school was American history and the American perspective/ influence in world wars. I wish by the end of this course to broaden my history of other countries and wonder how much new information I can get while in Europe that I couldn't receive while in America. I can not wait in actually seeing the culture, building and environment with my own eyes, instead of picture in a text book, while I learn about them.
